Lacrosse Sensation Matt Landis

Being named as Atlantic Coast Conference 2015 ACC Defensive Player of the Year could be one person’s claim to fame. For Notre Dame’s lacrosse defenseman, it’s just another accolade to add to his sterling career so far. 2015 has been a massive year for this lacrosse sensation. Notre Dame’s legacy as a successful lacrosse team is only continuing with Matt Landis leading the team. Even though the team’s success is his ultimate goal, he is being awarded for his amazing efforts for driving the team to being the number one seed in the ACC Championship. His outstanding campaign this season saw him stop Albany’s top player Lyle Thompson to only 1 goal in 11 attempts. This resulted in him winning the Epoch and Lacrosse Magazine Player of the Week; a first of the season for any defender. His efforts and amazing season helped Notre Dame, as a team, boast 7 All-Americans; a school record. Landis was recognized by NCAA as a top defensive player for 2015.

In any sport, many will say defense wins championships. This statement is just as true for Matt Landis and his defensive unit. Landis has started all 14 games this season and even caused 12 turnovers, a record bested by only one other on the team this year.

Notre Dame’s illustrious reputation for education was not lost on Landis. Landis maintained a 3.6 GPA while working part-time as well. His efforts and drive for success was paramount in a successful 2015 for himself, Notre Dame and lacrosse. Going into his senior season, Matt Landis looks to continue his success while leading Notre Dame to another wonderful season.

How Do You Respect Les Miles After This?

When Les Miles is telling recruits from Louisiana that they practically have a duty to go to LSU, it is hard to respect him. When you tell kids that they should come to your school or the hell with them, I would advise my kid to go elsewhere. It is one thing to be fiery, but it is another to be a complete jerk. This is what Les Miles appears to be. How could anyone send their kid to play for him knowing how he feels? What if the kid decides they need to transfer? Would Miles even let them given his apparent lack of respect for people who do not go to LSU?

According to Youtube.com, Bernardo Chua wants to know if this is why Miles makes such stupid play calls at least once a year? Does he disrespect everyone in America so much that he cannot even make coaching decisions properly. That is a probably a problem for a team that has had potential but not won a title in quite a while. Miles is starting to wear out his welcome, and his comments are not being kept inside Louisiana. Everyone in the country can see how Miles feels about kids from Louisiana leaving. Heaven forbid they make the right decision for themselves.

College Football Playoff Rankings are Released

With one more week to go in the college football season, the college football playoff committee released their second to last rankings. The top four in the rankings at the end of the season will qualify for the college football playoff. The top four after Tuesday’s release of the rankings are #1 Alabama, #2 Oregon, #3 TCU, and #4 Florida State The two biggest surprises is Florida State dropping another spot even though they are still undefeated, and TCU staying ahead of Baylor even though both have one loss, with Baylor beating TCU earlier in the season.

A couple games to watch is #2 Oregon playing #7 Arizona in the Pac-12 Championship game, as well as #4 Florida State playing #11 Georgia Tech in the ACC Championship game. Florida State, with a win, will qualify for the playoff, as well Oregon if they win. However, if Arizona wins, they have a big chance to jump into the top four. Also, a Georgia tech win would probably not vault them into the top four, but it would drop Florida State out and possibly move #5 Ohio State or #6 Baylor in the top four. There is still a long way to go, and NCAA fan Dr. Rod Rohrich of UT Southwestern adds, a lot of great football left in the final week of the season.
